Update on LNG Conversion

To TOTE Maritime Alaska’s valued customers –

I want to personally update you on TOTE Maritime Alaska’s plans for converting our Orca Class vessels to run on LNG.

After working on technical plans for this conversion for a number of years, I am excited to announce we will begin the process of converting the ships mid-December of 2017.

In order to convert both ships, each will undergo two, eight week dry docks. These dry dock periods will take place over the next four winters (2017-2021).

In December, the North Star will undergo the first dry dock of her conversion. We will seamlessly handle your cargo during the conversion and look forward to sharing our plans with you over the coming weeks.

TOTE Maritime Alaska is excited to be the first shipping company in the US to convert our fleet to natural gas. This effort will complete TOTE’s process of converting all of its ships to run on LNG – a decision that reflects our commitment to the environment as well as the air quality of the communities we serve.

We will continue to send out updates about the conversion plan and dry dock over the coming months. Please don’t hesitate to be in touch with me or your sales representative with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your support.
