As we round the end of the first quarter of 2021, I am excited to share some optimism for the future.
Alaska continues to be one of the leaders in the country in COVID-19 vaccination rates and has now expanded the program to anyone 16 years or older. Alex Hofeling and our vessel team are working closely with local medical personnel to assist in providing vaccinations to our crews onboard while safely docked at the Port of Alaska. It's fulfilling to be a part of this progress as we remain committed to keeping our employees safe and our service reliable and resilient.
Onshore, our team will continue to work in a hybrid remote environment until late summer, with critical employees safely on-site and the majority of our office staff working remotely. This allows us to continue to safely provide seamless service to the communities that rely on us, no matter where we are.
Looking ahead, TOTE Alaska will focus on our continued commitment as the premier shipping service to Alaska. We are dedicated to providing the best customer experience possible and challenging ourselves to find innovative solutions to better serve the market.
I look forward to the year ahead. While the world has changed and we are not out of the woods yet, we know that with the amazing customers, partners, and team we have – the future is looking bright.

LNG Conversion Project
TOTE Alaska is gearing up for an extensive amount of LNG engine conversion work starting in April. Midnight Sun will convert two engines to being able to use LNG while North Star will experience one engine conversion. And of the work will take place will the vessels are underway!
We expect the three engine conversions to be completed by October this year and will not impact our voyage schedule or our service.
TOTE In the Community
TOTE Alaska, American Federation of Teachers, Transportation Institute, and Northern Air Cargo partnered to donate in-kind shipping and delivery of 30,000 books to students off the Alaska road system, as part of a nationwide program to provide free books to remote communities during the pandemic. TOTE is managing the BookWaves program for Alaska and logistics to the selected rural communities.
