Are you ready? Hurricane Peak Season is here!
Hurricane season officially began on June 1, but generally, the peak is from mid-August to the end of September according to AccuWeather meteorologists. During this time, conditions are ideal for strong and quick-moving tropical storms, hurricanes and depressions in the Atlantic basin. Don’t get caught off-guard! Follow these preparation and safety tips to ensure you and your family weather the storm.
- Evacuation Plan – Know your evacuation zone. Have a plan in place (for family and pets) should a mandatory evacuation for your zone is mandated.
- Food/Water – Get supplies well in advance, enough for each person for at least one week.
- Safety – Make home and car emergency kits (flashlights, batteries, first aid kit, jumper cables, roadside emergency tools, etc.)
- Medicine/First Aid – Have 30 days’ worth of medicine and medical supplies. Refill prescriptions before the storm. (Make a list of all medications and doses, just in case!)
- Communication – Have extra batteries or portable chargers for cell phones and radios.
- Gas – Fill up your car and all gas containers ahead of the storm.
NaturaLINE Reefers Released!
Further extending its commitment to environmental sustainability, TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico (TMPR) has officially enhanced its fleet with brand new refrigerated containers chilled by the industry’s only natural refrigerant-based system, the NaturaLINE® unit from Carrier Transicold. TMPR is the first shipping line to place a sizable quantity of NaturaLINE units into service on U.S. domestic trade routes.
Our 40’s are first domestically, and our 45’s are first globally. NaturaLINE units use carbon dioxide (CO2), a refrigerant with the lowest global warming potential (GWP) among all refrigerants currently used in container systems. By shipping with TOTE, we continue to help your company reach your environmental goals.
