The Port of Alaska recently announced its 2027 Port Modernization assessment in the amount of $22.76 per short ton (2,000 pounds). This assessment becomes effective January 1, 2027, and applies to all commodities shipped through the Port of Alaska. TOTE Maritime Alaska pays this assessment directly to the Port of Alaska monthly.
As a result of this announcement and based on average cargo weights, effective January 1, 2027, TOTE Maritime Alaska will assess the following fees:
- Trailer/Container/Flatbed
- Northbound: increasing from $127 to $375 per booking
- Southbound: increasing from $89 to $257 per booking
- Cargo as described in Items 2097, 2500, 2910, 2917, 2945, and 2950 of Tariff 601-A
- Northbound: increasing from $54 per booking to $197 per booking
- Southbound: increasing from $41 per booking to $197 per booking
- Cargo as described in Item 2959 of Tariff 601-A
- Northbound: increasing from $26 per booking to $62 per booking
- Southbound: increasing from $26 per booking to $62 per booking
- Cargo as described in Item 2685 of Tariff 601-A
- Northbound: increasing from $8.05 per ton to $22.76 per ton
- Southbound: increasing from $8.05 per ton to $22.76 per ton
