TOTE Maritime Agency Puerto Rico, had outstanding participation during the annual convention of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) held last weekend at the Wyndham Grand Río Mar Beach Resort Hotel in Río Grande, which also sponsored the Ruby Category.
The convention started on Wednesday with a golf outing where TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico’s (TMPR) President – Kevin Kendrick, Eduardo Pagan and Jose Ortiz participated alongside several TOTE customers.
Mr. Eduardo Pagán, General Manager and Vice President, and Ana Medellín, Senior Manager of Human Resources and Business Services at TMAPR, were among the panelists during the most important conversations of the itinerary with the Secretary of State, Omar J. Marrero Díaz, and the Honorable Jenniffer González, Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in Washington D.C..
During the conversation with Secretary Marrero Díaz (PR Secretary of State), Mr. Pagán brought up topics of great importance for our industry such as transportation and logistics; what the government plan would be in the face of a possible hurricane or other natural phenomenon and alternate port development plans if the Port of San Juan would be unable to operate. Discussion of how to develop an “Ad Valorem” operation for the port of Ponce was discussed as well as, grant infrastructure projects to create greater efficiencies and resiliency for the port of San Juan.
Meanwhile, during the conversation with the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, given her role on the Transportation& Infrastructure Committee, Mrs. Medellín asked questions about her priorities to enhance transportation and logistics in Puerto Rico – an island that imports more than 90% of what it consumes; port congestion derived from the pandemic, global supply challenges and economic pressures and what has been done to ensure dedicated, reliable service to the island, to minimize disruptions to the supply chain and make sure that consumer goods and essential cargo are delivered.
As a highlight of the Convention and a source of pride for our company, Ms. Ana Medellín, was awarded with the 2021 Service Manager of the Year Award for the Metro Region as part of the PRMA Excellence Awards.
Ana Medellín has more than 15 years of experience in different business areas such as: human resources, compliance, security ,and corporate social responsibility and in March 2021, during Women's Month, she was highlighted by the PR Shipowners Association for her performance within the shipping industry.
